The Yangon Technological University hosted “YTU Innovation Challenge” with the theme “Smart Yangon” on Wednesday.
The YTU Innovation Challenge is part of the Students’ Union Grant. The SUG is a program which provides knowledge and financial support for club activities and engineering projects of the university’s students.
The challenge is held with 4 main categories under the Smart Yangon theme; Transportation, Waste Management, Modern Campus and Public Safety.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein delivered a speech of the current statistics of Yangon City and projects to be implemented to make Yangon a Smart City.
Member, YTU’s Student Union, Kaung Zarni Naing said “A group of mentors made up with famous technicians held knowledge sharing workshops to help the contestants on February 17th and 18th.”
The total of 19 groups of students from various computer and information technology universities in Yangon including YTU participated in the competition.
Contestant, Htet Thazin Zaw (H2PN) said “The panel of 4 judges were invited for the competition and a total of 4 prizes to be awarded; first, second, third and people’s choice award.”
