Badminton Competition: Regions And States Tournament Commenced In Nay Pyi Taw

2018 Regions and States Badminton Competition commenced in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

178 players from 15 men and 13 women teams are participating in the competition which will be held until 14th of May.

The competition aims to strengthen the friendly relations among the national brethren as all the players from the Regions and States are gathering for the event.

It also aims to select outstanding players for the international competitions.

Secretary, Myanmar Badminton Association, Nyan Lwin said "We take responsibility for the association in 2016. During the two years period, 28 players are undergoing camp training. We also start sending the players to the world class competition. One of our players ranked 200 in the world class. We select the outstanding players from the Region and State Competitions. Once they are selected, they have to undergo the camp training."

This year saw increased numbers of participant teams compared to the previous year. The experienced players are among the participants.

Player, Yangon Region Team, Shwe Yi Shun Myat said "I have been playing badminton since I was 10. I have been participated in the National Championship and other international competition as junior player. I have won many medals in the national and international competitions."

Myanmar Badminton Team grabbed 4 gold medal at Yunan ASEAN National Badminton Tournament, and one bronze medal Yonex Sunrise Nepal International Series last year.
