Botahtaung Pagoda: Hair Relic, Diamond Bud & Ornamental Umbrella To Convey

The procession ceremony of the sacred hair relic of the Buddha, diamond bud, banana bud and ornamental umbrella of BoTaHtaung KyaikDeAT pagoda will take place on the New Year of Myanmar Calendar.

The coordination meeting for the conveying ceremony was held at Botahtaung pagoda in Yangon on Wednesday for the preparations of carrying out the tasks conveniently and smooth road access for the ceremony.

The conveying ceremony will take place along the route of Botahtaung pagoda Strand road-TheinPyu-Kandawgyi lake -Natmauk road and Kyatawya road and Shwedagon pagoda. Currently, the roads scheduled as the route of conveying ceremony are being renovated by YCDC. The route will be long 4 mile and 3 furlongs said secretary from the YCDC.

Secretary, YCDC, Hlaing Maw Oo said "We chose the route for conveying of Buddha hair relic, diamond bud, banana bud and ornamental umbrella. Today I explained what will be the route for the occasion in line with the guidance of Ven. Sayadaws of State Sangha Mahanayaka Committee, and permission of the Yangon region government and Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture as well. We also avoiding the crowded places, flyovers and unpropitious place along with the path of convey."

The new Diamond-bud, Jeweled-vane and ornamental Umbrella will be placed atop the pagoda on the full moon day of Kasone which falls on 29th of April.

It's learnt that the Diamond-bud, Jeweled-vane and ornamental Umbrella will be prepared with approximately 67.5 kilogram of gold by an expert group of Jewelry, with the support of the Regional Government, Board of Trustees and well wishers.

The conveying ceremony will be held on 19th April.
