Broadcast Cooperation: Korea TV Content Showcase Held In Yangon

2018 Korea TV Content Showcase hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT of Republic Korea and organized by National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) took place in Yangon on Tuesday.

The Showcase aims to strengthen the cooperation between Korea and Myanmar on broadcasting industry and introduce a variety genre of Korean TV programs such as Dramas, Documentaries and Animated Films to broadcasting companies in Myanmar.

Manager, Global Business Dept., Global  Cooperation Team, NIPA, Sohee Kim said “NIPA organized a showcase like this one back in 2013. We now see that Myanmar television and broadcasting sector has improved a lot compared to 5 years ago. This showcase is not only to introduce Korean TV contents to Myanmar but also to learn more about Myanmar's broadcasting systems. This is a win-win situation for both sides and I hope the two countries to cooperate in the future for more improvements.”

NIPA organizes TV content showcases in 8 countries each year and Myanmar is selected as one of the countries to be showcased this year to create new business opportunities and promote friendship between the two nations.

Head, Marketing Dept., Dream Factory Studio, Jinny Lee said “We are here to introduce the cartoon program ZellyGo in Myanmar as part of our global marketing plan. We can explore more about Myanmar's TV market through this event while Myanmar audience get the chance to watch all famous Korean programs at once.”

Senior Sales Manager, Global Business Dept., KBS Media, Steven Park said “KBS programs have been introduced to Myanmar many times and we want to introduce our new programs to Myanmar this time. I heard there are new TV channels in Myanmar. So, I would like to meet them today and I'll see how we can cooperate with them.”

A total of 11 broadcasting companies who are working at the public TV, cable TV and independent productions were introduced at the event.
