Cash For Charity: Singapore Association Of Myanmar Made Cash Donation

The proceeds of the 23rd Singapore Association of Myanmar Fundraiser and Charity Golf & Dinner 2017 were donated to the charity beneficiaries at Sedona Hotel on Thursday.

The Singapore Association of Myanmar has been in existence since 1991. The association acts as a platform for the members who are residing in Myanmar for business or work to network and interact over social, sports and other recreational activities.

President, Singapore Association of Myanmar, Sims Teo said “SAM, Singapore Association of Myanmar is with actually 4 committees; social, sports, charity and business. So, the charity committees are the ones in charge of collecting the money through the activities of other committees. From the funds, actually we take the 70% to be donated to the charitable groups.”

SAM’s major fundraising event is the Annual Fundraiser and Charity Golf & Dinner. Over the past 22 years, the event allowed SAM to raise and donate funds to numerous charitable organisations in Myanmar. 

The proceeds of over 72,000 US dollars which was raised at the 23rd Fundraiser event on 24th November last year was donated to the School for the Blind.

Principal, School for the Blind (Department of Social Welfare), Su Su Mar said “They donate money to us every year. They know that KyiMyinDine School for the Blind has been working on all-around development of the children especially the education. They understand that schools like us are helping children improve through donation. I am so thankful towards the donors and carrying out to make it effective.” 

The president of Singapore Association of Myanmar, Singapore Ambassador to Myanmar, the donors and the representatives from the charity beneficiaries and many more attended the event.
