Chief Minister’s Cup: Sepak Takraw Competition For Men And Women Under 25

Yangon Region Chief Minister’s Cup Sepak Takraw Competition for men and women under 25 successfully concluded in Yangon on Wednesday. With the aim of turning out new talented players and helping players get experience, this annual competition is organized by the Ministry of Health and Sports.

Director, Ministry of Health & Sports, Aung Moe said “We organized this year competition from the 2nd to the 6th of June - 44 men and women teams across the Yangon Region participated. We have plans to hold such kind of competition every year. I hope young people will stay away from drugs and possess a healthy life by participating in sports.”

In men competition, 600,000 kyats for the 1st winning team, 400,000 kyats for the 2nd and 300,000 kyats for the 3rd were awarded. In women competition, 300,000 kyats for the 1st winning team, 200,000 kyats for the 2nd and 100,000 kyats for the 3rd were awarded.

Thaketa Team, Zin Bo Oo said I’m very happy to win the 1st prize.  We trained two weeks for this competition. Every contesting team was good. But we did the best. I think our team has the great teamwork so we grabbed the first prize. We also joined the competition last year and won the first prize. I hope new talented players will turn out through this competition.

Kungyankone Team, Thet Hnin said “We won the first prize - this is the first time we participated in this competition. We will also participate in the future and try the best to grab the first prize like this.”

It’s learnt that states and regional Sepak Takraw competition will be held in Nay Pyi Taw from the 4th to the 13th of July.
