Child Competition: Competition Held Marking 70th Independence Day

Maternal and child competition organized by the Myanmar Maternal and child welfare Association (MMCWA) to mark the 70th anniversary of Myanmar Independence day was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

The competition aims at mothers and children to have physical and intellectual development.

The children competition was divided into five groups of age ranging from new born to 2 years.

The doctors assessed the children’s Physical and mental development, height and weight at the competition, Professor Dr. San San Myint Aung, Chairperson of MMCWA said.

Chairperson, MMCWA, Prof. Dr. San San Myint Aung said “The doctors assess the development of children and whether they are taken vaccination regularly. We aim at the mothers to get knowledge about how to care their children systematically.”

To be healthy mothers and children, mothers need to access the maternal health care service since they are expecting their babies, Assistant Director of Maternal and child health nutrition who is one of the judges said at the event.

Assistant Director, MCH/SH nutrition, Dr. Hlaing Hlaing Htay said “We asked the mothers about how they care their children and whether they follow their children’s vaccination scheme regularly. Cooperating with MMCWA, we provide health care services to both maternal and children. The mothers need to follow the scheme.”

About 80 children participated in the competition. First, second and third prizes are awarded to the outstanding children.

Participant, Khine Wai Mon said “I've been having nutritious foods since I was expecting my daughter. My daughter regularly takes vaccination. We got to know how to care our children to have intellectual and physical development through this kind of competition. I also would like to urge all mothers and children to have foods with full of vitamin.” 

Maternal and child competition is being held in all states and regions.
