Cultural Concert: 70th Anniversary Russia-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations

The Embassy of Russia in Myanmar held a concert to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Russia-Myanmar Diplomatic relations at the National Theater in Yangon on Sunday.

Before the concert began, the Ambassador of Russia to Myanmar, the Yangon Mayor and the Chairman of Russia-Myanmar Association of Friendship and Cooperation delivered speeches respectively.

Two famous cultural groups from Russia; Folk ensemble “Kladets” and Instrumental Trio “Silver Strings” performed at the concert.

The diplomatic relations between the Russia Federation and Myanmar was established on February 18, 1948 and the two sides have signed a number of bilateral documents since then.

Ambassador, Embassy of Russia (Myanmar), Dr. Nikolay A. Listopadov said “The State Counsellor of Myanmar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Daw Aung San Su Kyi and the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov exchanged congratulatory messages. And also I would like to stress that our diplomatic relations were established by the proposal of late General Aung San, himself. Today, at the National Theater Yangon, we organized the cultural program.”

The representatives from the Russia Embassy in Myanmar, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the Russia-Myanmar Association of Friendship and Cooperation and many other enthusiasts joined the concert.
