10 September 2018

Women Body and Physical Strength competition was held on Sunday afternoon at the Myanmar convention Center of Yangon.

Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister U Naing Ngan Lin attended the event and gave a speech. The competition was organized by Yangon Women Sport Committee (YWSC) with the aims to help emerge healthy, strong and talented women in Yangon Region and to get female athletes for the country.

Chairperson, Yangon Women Sport Committee, Marlar Win said “I’m in charge of women body building, aerobics and football training. We are trying as much as we can to get women who are interested in sports. I’d like to call for participation in getting strong and healthy women for the country.”

The Competition had 2 categories; ‘Junior’ for contestants who are less than 5 feet and 3 inches in height and ‘Senior’ for contestants who are more than 5 feet and 3 inches in height. The competition attracted 11 junior contestants and 19 senior contestants.

Junior Contestant, Thanlyin Township, Htet Thinzar Aung said “I’m very excited as this is my 1st time competing. Wearing makeup alone can’t make a lady pretty. With the strong and healthy body, a lady can be pretty and healthy.”

Senior Contestant, North Okkalapa  Township, Chue Moe Min said “I started body building when I was a 1st year student. I was on a trip before this competition, so I didn’t have much time to train. This is my 6th time competing - I won prizes in competitions. Body building is essential for everyone, especially, for women staying at home almost all the time. Even at home, women should do some exercises for their health.”

There used to be Women Body Beauty Competition before, but since 2012, Women Body and Physical Strength competition is being held.
