Film Festival: 17 European Films To Be On Display From 21-30 September

13 September 2018

The European Film Festival is back again in Yangon with its 27th edition.

The festival was organized by the delegation of the European Union to Myanmar and the Goethe Institute Myanmar with the support of 17 European countries.

It is the longest running foreign festival in Myanmar. It aims to promote a cultural exchange between Myanmar and Europe while showcasing the diversity of European films.

Ambassador, European Union to Myanmar, Kristian SCHMIDT said “We have this every year and every year it gets bigger and bigger. Last year, we had 10,000 spectators coming to see all the European films and this year we hope to even having more..”

The 17 award–winning contemporary films from 16 different European countries will be screened at the film festival. The public can enjoy the movies for free at the Goethe Villa and Nay Pyi Taw cinema in Yangon from the 21st to 30th of September.

Ambassador, European Union to Myanmar, Kristian SCHMIDT said “There are at least 2 good reasons for the Myanmar public to come and see the films. The first one is FREE! The other one is that the stories that you will see on the screen, we think, are relevant for everyone.”

The tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis at the respective venue one hour to 15 minutes before the scheduled screening.
