Financial Meeting: Union Budget Estimate, Union Budget Bill Focused

Finance Commission held its 1st meeting for the year of 2018 on Tuesday, focusing on the Union budget and Union Budget bill. The Commission chairman President U Htin Kyaw together with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the commission vice-chairman Vice President U Henry Van Thio and other commission members attended the meeting.

In the meeting at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw, the President said this is to discuss and approve the Union Budget estimate for the period between April and September 2018 as well as 2018 Union Budget Bill. The commission vice-chairman said the Union government will provide 853.790 Billion kyats and the budget states and regions submitted is 376. 743 Billion kyats.

The commission secretary Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Kyaw Win clarified the Union Budget estimate for the period between April and September 2018 and 2018 Union Budget Bill. Members of the commission reported on states and regions tax collection, budget and the need. The Commission chairman President U Htin Kyaw called for care to ensure that the submitted budget doesn’t overlap the other.
