Myanmar plans to export fish and prawn to EU countries according to the National Residue Monitoring Plan.
Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Tun said during the press conference on Tuesday.
He said the fishery sector earned more than US$711 million from fish export to more than 40 countries in the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year. The ministry has produced more than 1.2 billion fingerlings from 27 hatcheries in the second one-year period.
He added that the Ministry has also opened Fresh Water Fish Research Center. He added that plans are underway to open the Fishery University and at present, arrangements are in progress for added a major subject on fishery at Yangon University.
