The 5th Myanmar Food Exhibition will be held in Yangon on February, featuring local food products, Vice Chairman of MFPEA, Myanmar Food Processors & Exporters Association said.
To be organized by the MFPEA, the upcoming exhibition aims at consumers to have varieties of local food products in one place and also at local food processors to extend market and get link with business partners. The exhibition also tends to increase the productivity, the MFPEA Vice Chairman added.
Vice Chairman, Myanmar Food Processors & Exporters Association, Aung Shwe said “In the upcoming exhibition, local food processors are our 1st priority and those acting together with foreign companies are the 2nd. About 132 exhibitors will participate in it.”
On the other hand, local food processors are facing challenges with financial and electricity access and logistical issue. 90% of the SME, Small and Medium Enterprises are food processing. As the government has been making efforts for the development of SME sector, processors are hoping for better situation, according to the MFPEA Vice Chairman.
Vice Chairman, Myanmar Food Processors & Exporters Association, Aung Shwe said “For the food processors, interest on the loan is high … so is electricity cost, resulting in the high production cost. As the government is now discussing with JICA to lend money to the food processors with low interest, I believe the situation will be better in 2018.”
The 5th Myanmar Food Exhibition is set to be held for 3 days from the 2nd to the 4th of February.
