Friendly Matches: Leeds United Will Play Goodwill Matches In Myanmar

Leading Myanmar banking service, AYA Bank and Leeds United announced the AYA Bank Tour 2018 on Tuesday.

The tour features two friendly matches between Leeds United and the Myanmar National League (MNL) All-Stars and the Myanmar National Team.

There will be 2 matches - one in Yangon and another in Mandalay - MNL All Star Team versus Leeds United will take place on 9th of May 2018 at Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon and the match of Myanmar National Team versus Leeds United will be on 11th of May 2018 at MandalarThiri Stadium, Mandalay.

Managing Director, Leeds United, Angus Kinnear said “So, I think for us this is going to be a great experience for players and most of players haven't played in Asia before so it is going to be a new challenge for them.”

“What I've been saying since I've been here is that they are very, very passionate about football and we really hope that they come and support the game to support the teams and when they leave the game hopefully they will also support the Leeds United.”

In addition to the matches, the Leeds United will also run football clinics with the Myanmar Football Federation Academies in Yangon and Mandalay. The team will impart their training and experience to young Myanmar footballers.

Managing Director, AYA Bank, Myint Zaw said "I've wanted to invite Leeds United to Myanmar for Myanmar Football fans to have opportunity to watch the match of famous Myanmar players and legendary players from Leeds United at home playground. Fortunately, the Leeds United have an enough time for 10 days and they are interested in Myanmar. The chairman of MFF also agreed on our proposal. The negotiation also went very well as they decided not to take any appearance fee."

The tickets for the match will be available for 2000 kyat, 3000 kyat and 4000 kyat and the matches will be broadcast locally in Myanmar on MRTV-4 and globally via the LUTV App of Leeds United TV.
