Fun-Fair: Independence Day Commemorative Event Held In Maungtaw

In order to commemorate the 70th anniversary Independence Day, sports competitions were organized in Maungtaw District on 3rd and 4th January.

16 games have been organized at MyoMa Sports Ground in Maungtaw.

It aims to achieve more friendly relations among the communities and also help to gain new strength for the regional development tasks.

Administrator, Maungtaw District, Ye Htut said “This is the annual event. We organize this kind of sports events for the students and local people. Such events were also organized in the previous year. Although we are suffering the consequences of the incidents happened in October 2016 and August 2017, we never failed to organize our national event. This is the history of our country.”

Since Maungtaw Area has restored normalcy after the attacks by the terrorists, local authorities organize the commemorative event for the public.

Assistant Director, Maungtaw District Sports and Physical Education Department, Zaw Min Htwe said “On this 70th anniversary Independence Day, we are holding such events in order for the people to remember the history of Independence struggle and to be equipped with health and fitness.”

People enjoyed the fun-fair activities, and parents are also came with their children to join the event.

Khin Min Myat said “Children from the wards in Maungtaw are competing here at the sport events. They joined the events like snack eating and balloon popping. I also let my child to take part in the event.”

Po Po Khaing said “This kind of event is held annually. But it’s not crowded like in our younger days. Now, my children are taking part in snack eating event. They also join the 100-meter race.”

The competitions included snack eating, race, tennis, tug-of-war, and etc…
