Futsal Tournament: States And Regions Event In Nay Pyi Taw

The states and regions futsal tournament 2017 was concluded on Friday in Capital Nay Pyi Taw. Mandalay and Bago Regions won the victory for men and women tournaments respectively. The closing and awarding ceremony was held at Wanna Theikhti Futsal Indoor Stadium. The tournament was held for 10 days.

The States and Regions Futsal Tournament 2017 is the first time holding by the Ministry of Health and Sports, aiming to produce talented new generation football players around the country.

More than the victory, the competition also hopes to gather potential players in term of camping for further improvement. Negotiations for the camp programs have been in progress with officials and futsal committee, the ministry said.

DIRECTOR, TRAINING AND COMPETITION DEPARTMENT -1, KHUN JAR AUNG said “Through the period of tournament, we have found out some potential players. To put them into camps for further trainings, we are still negotiating for that. And we plan to call qualified players unless they are from winning teams or others.”

Players under 25 were only allowed to participate in the tournament. As every player dreams to be selections, the Coach from the Shan State said; the competition is a great opportunity for them.

COACH, SHAN STATE, THAN HLAING said “As the competition is the highest level, every player has a dream to be selections. If they are selected through the competition, they can be considered as selection players.”

Shan State and Yangon Region won 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively for the men tournament. As for the women, Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State went for 2nd and 3rd places each.
