The outstanding students who passed the 2016-2017 matriculation exams from Yangon Region were honoured with a reception held at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Tuesday.
There are 21 students from Yangon Region who passed with the highest ranks in matriculation exams of 2016-2017 academic year.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein gave an opening speech, and also asked about difficulties of the students in attending the universities and future plans of their life.
One of the outstanding students expressed thanks for honouring like this. She pledged to try to become a teacher whom could turn out the qualified citizens for the future.
Student, Hlegu Education College, Zu Zu Mg said “I am very glad to attend the event and thanks to Chief minister for asking our difficulties to join the university. I think he will try his best to solve our difficulties. I will try to become a good teacher. Also I hope our education system to catch up with the standard of International education system.”
Parents also shared their experience in nurturing their children to be excelled in academic matter.
Parent, TaikKyi Township, Moe Aung said “There are no tuitions in our villages. So we supported my daughter for her dream comes true. She passed with the second rank in Yangon Region at 2016-2017 academic year matriculation exams. I am very happy to attend this event and proud of my daughter. Also thanks to the Chief Minister for hosting like this event.”
Officials also hope that this kind of event will help the students to try hard in their lessons.
Deputy Director, Yangon Region Office of Education Department, Khin Mar Swe said “From this event, I think the fellow students will try hard. I think next generation students are good at critical thinking and others activities. I hope they will lead our country to be a better one.”
The Chief Minister also held an awarding ceremony for the outstanding students in September last year.
