A press conference on Leopalace21 Myanmar Open 2018 was held at Pun Hlaing Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Leopalace21 Myanmar Open is the country’s only official professional golf tournament on the Asian Tour. The 2018 tournament is the third edition and it is organized by Myanmar Golf Federation and jointly supervised by Japan Golf Tour Organization, Asian Tour.
A total of 144 players with top 60 players from Asian tour, top 60 players from Japan Golf Tour, Top 10 players from Myanmar Professional Golfers’ Association and 4 amateurs from Myanmar Golf Federation will compete.
Professional Golfer, Japan Golf Tour, Ryo Ishikawa said “I like the weather and location of golf course here. I am only excited for the training part. I will have to look around the golf course today and tomorrow to find out the speed I need to adapt. I still have to learn a lot to know Myanmar’s taste.”
The Defending Champion Todd Sinnott from Australia, the winner of Leopalace21 Myanmar Open 2016 Shaun Norris from South Africa, professional golfer Ryo Ishikawa from Japan, and two of Myanmar’s players Ye Htet Aung and Naing Naing Lin attended the press conference to share their preparations and experiences.
Professional Golfer, Myanmar Golf Tour, Ye Htet Aung said “Small competitions were held in advance to practice. We, Myanmar’s players are trying our best. I have the experience of playing at Asian Tour. I participated in the competitions in Indonesia and it made me have confidence and improvement. I prepared a lot for this tournament.”
The Leopalace21 Myanmar Open 2018 will take place for 4 days from the 25th to the 28th of January at Pun Hlaing Golf Club in Yangon.
