China's Hainan Airlines started direct flights from Beijing to Mexico City on Wednesday. This made it the airline's first non-stop connection to Latin America. The airline will fly a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the new route three times a week with a stop at Tijiuana.
The service was designed to meet increasing demand from tourists and business people. Annual bilateral traffic between China and Mexico is 200,000 passengers at the moment with Mexico.
