A ceremony of hoisting golden umbrella and consecration at Myaynitaung pagoda erected near Nay Pyi Taw International Airport was held on the New Year day. Commander-in-chief of defense services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife conveyed the tiers of the golden umbrella to the top of the pagoda and offered the alms to the Sangha.
First, the senior general and congregation observed the 8 precepts from the chief abbot of Dhamma-Rakkhita monastery and listened to the recitation of Paritta Suttas. They offered the diamond orb, royal bird perched golden vane, tiers of golden umbrella and provisions to the Sanghas and shared the merits gained.
Afterwards, they convened the diamond orb, royal bird perched golden vane, tiers of golden umbrella around the pagoda clockwise three times. The senior general and party convoyed the tiers of golden umbrella in the flying chariot to the top of the pagoda and showered the moneys marking the accomplishment of hoisting golden umbrella. The commander in chief and wife also offered the flowers, water and candles to the Buddha image and sprayed the stone inscription with scented water. Afterwards, the members of Sangha conducted the consecration of the pagoda. After the ceremony, the commander in chief and members offered alms to the Sangha.
