Innovation Center: Yangon Innovation Center To Establish For Youth Innovators

Yangon Innovation center is being implemented by Yangon Region Government. Interested operators are being offered Request for Proposal, Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister said.

Yangon Innovation Center aims at young people to develop, emerging entrepreneurship, Eco system and creating network between local and international startups. 

Only one operator will be chosen and contracted for 3 years as for Phase 1, Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister said.

Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs, Yangon Region Government, Naw Pan Thinzar Myo said “We will choose the operator who can raise the startups by engaging them with international startups and financial supporting companies. They have to produce outstanding young people by holding the competitions. We will contract with the outstanding operator in the first week of April. We will form the management team to watch the performances of the operator during three years.”

On the other hand, about asking budget for the center will be discussed at the parliament, the minister added.

Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs, Yangon Region Government, Naw Pan Thinzar Myo said “We will discuss at the parliament about to put the center in which ministry to be able to ask budget. And we still need to discuss about the IP law at the parliament to emerge as soon as possible in order to protect the technology innovated by the startups and young people.”

Yangon Innovation center aims to be the innovation and entrepreneurship hub.

Another outstanding operator will be chosen for Phase 2 in September, the minister added.
