Int’l Labour Conference: Union Minister Join In Geneva

The 106th session of the International Labour Conference convened from the 5th to 17th of June in Geneva of Switzerland. Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe joined the conference in which Myanmar was elected as Deputy Member of International Labour Organization for 2017 - 2020. He also attended ASEAN Labour ministers’ working discussion meeting. In the conference, the Union Minister discussed the matters including amendment to Myanmar’s labour-related laws, labour organizations establishment, eradication of child labour, regional cooperation and progress. He also met with Danish Employment Minister and discussed work safety and health programmes which are being carried out in cooperation with Denmark. The Union Minister also met with the Director General of International Organization for Migration and discussed migrant workers issue. The International Labour Conference is a high-level annual event of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
