IT Industry: University Of Information Technology Reopens In Hlaing Campus

University of Information Technology relocated to Hlaing from Bahan Campus opened on Tuesday.

The university, one of the higher computer studies universities in the country, was established in 2012 in Bahan Campus.

169 students graduated from the university in the 1st batch – some of the graduates joined master degree programme and the rest are now in work place.

Rector, University of Information Technology, Saw Sanda Aye said “Along with our university’s objectives, we aim to develop human resource for information technology industry to keep abreast with ASEAN and international standards. We will focus on research. Our university just offered master degree course this year.”

It offers a 5-year undergraduate program for 7 specialization subjects as well as master and PhD programmes – now there are 1,100 students studying.

Student, Computer Science (3rd year), Aike Nyan Lin Oo said “1st and 2nd years are just getting experience and knowledge on what we will learn in the 3rd year. I think IT industry is very trendy and we’ve seen that countries like Japan and Korea are providing assistance for our country. So the industry here will develop in the next 4 or 5 years.”

The students can choose their major in the 3rd year … Computer Science or Computer Technology.
