Japan's Prime Minister said that the increasing Japan's military through new security legislation and a cooperative defence guideline with the U.S. is the right move. He mentioned the threat of missiles and nuclear weapons, as well as an violation of the country's airspace by unidentified aircraft.

On Saturday , Japanese F-15 fighter jets conducted an air exercise with U.S. B1-B bombers in the skies above the East China Sea. The joint drill came as South Korea braced for a possible further missile test by the North.
