Judo Championship: 13th Japan Cup Judo Championship 2017

13th Japan Cup Judo Championship 2017 was held in Yangon for two days starting from Tuesday. The outstanding players from the competition will be trained for the upcoming SEA Games.

111 events were held on the 1st day and 48 events on the 2nd day. The competition aims to produce outstanding players, Joint Secretary of Myanmar Judo Federation said.

Joint Secretary, Myanmar Judo Federation, Win Win Maw said “We will select outstanding ones and will train them for the 30th SEA Games.  To develop Judo sport in Myanmar, we are planning to hold such an event like this every year.”

136 players from Sports and Physical education department from Yangon, Mandalay and Taunggyi and the players from Mon and Kayah states and Yangon region participated in the championship.

The competition gives the players experience which is conducive to upcoming international level competition, one of the players said.

Player, Aye Aye Aung said “The competition can produce new generation of Judo player. I want more competitions to be held for the development of Judo sport.”

The outstanding players and teams were awarded on the second day of the event.
