Mawlamyaing Flood: Union Minister Provided Assistances

The union minister for social welfare, relief and resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye delivered the address at the coordination of Mon State natural disaster management working group held in Mawlamyaing on Monday.

At the meeting, the union minister pointed out that more natural disasters are occurring across the world due to the climate change. As no place can spare from the natural disasters, preparedness and precaution are required.

Myanmar is still on the list of least prepared countries. 3 motorboats are brought for the emergency use of MawlaMyaing flood. The union government, national natural disaster management committee and State government will carry out the tasks for the rehabilitations.

Regarding with the landslip at Kyaik-Than-Lan pagoda, the advisory board for the pagoda rehabilitation committee will be established under the guidance of national natural disaster management committee.

 Later, the Mon State Chief minister and ministers clarified the damages and opening of temporary shelter camps and the union minister addressed the needs and discussed the works to be done. Then, the union minister provided 3 motorboats, sacks of chlorine and cash assistance of over 15.5 million kyats and the state chief minister and responsible officials accepted.

Next, the union minister and party inspected temporary camps for the flood victims at the schools and monasteries and provided assistances of cash and kinds.

Afterwards, the union minister and party also met with the civil society organizations and discussed the matters on the cooperation in the flood disaster.
