Migrants occupy French train station as numbers crossing from Italy increase

11 April 2018

Migrants lay down their mattresses in the lobby of the French train station at Briancon yesterday. They said it was the only place that could offer them a safe place to sleep. About one hundred people slept in the station after the Haute-Alpes local authorities said they had run out of room to house new arrivals. The migrants have made the crossing from Italy. Most migrants do not manage to make the crossing. They are turned back by Italian or French police.
