Mud Olympics contestants get down and dirty

The Mud Olympics was held on Saturday (July 21) in the German town of Brunsbuettel on the Elbe river. Around 4,000 people attended the event with 40 teams from Germany and neighboring countries played sports in the mud.

Muddy volley ball, mud football, and slimy sledging were all up for medal grabs as well as prizes for funniest team name, best mud mascot and best costume. The 'Games' happen under the motto 'dirty sports for a good cause'. The Mud Olympics has been raising money for charity since 2004. This year collected more than 47,000 euros to fight cancer.
