Musk tweets video of mini-sub for use in Thai cave

9 July 2018

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk tweeted video of a mini-sub on Sunday (July 8).

The video simulated maneuvering through a narrow passage as it carries a man inside and is being pushed and pulled under water by two divers. Earlier on Saturday (July 7) Musk said that a team from his rocket company SpaceX in Los Angeles is building a mini-sub to help with the cave rescue in Thailand.

He added that it would take eight hours to construct and 17 hours to transport to Thailand. Eight boys and their soccer coach who remain trapped in a flooded cave in northern Thailand waited for a rescue operation to resume on Monday (July 10).

The first four have been brought out safely. Thirteen foreign divers and five members of Thailand's elite navy SEAL unit are the main team guiding the boys to safety through narrow, submerged passageways.
