Overseas voters go first as French elect parliament

18 June 2017

The second round of France's parliamentary election is slated for Sunday (June 18), but residents of French Guiana and some other French overseas territories were able to vote the day before on Saturday (June 17). Voters are expected to hand President Emmanuel Macron a landslide majority in parliament, a second election triumph for him after his presidential victory and one which should allow him to embark on deep social and economic reforms.
