Paying Respect: General Aung San Statues Opened For Public Tribute

General Aung San Bronze Statue was opened in North Dagon Township on 13th February.

The statue was placed at Panglong Square near Sitagu Buddhist University. Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanisara organized the ceremony which was also attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and officials. The Sayadaw explained the purpose of casting the General Aung San Statue. Later, the Chief Minister and party donated offertories to the Sayadaw.

Likewise, General Aung San Statue was also opened at Bogyoke Park in Kawhmu Township of Yangon South District. The Chief Minister and officials attended the opening ceremony, and formally unveiled the statue. Local residents also joined the opening ceremony and saluted the General Aung San Statue.

The Chief Minister and party later met with NLD members at the office of the National League for Democracy in the township. The Chief Minister explained the Regional Government’s effort for the uplifting of living standards of the residents and rural area development. He also explained the drafting for the implementation of Yangon Special Economic Zone in kawmhu, Dala and Kuingyangone townships. He stressed that the Regional Government is initiating the Special Project that involved job opportunities and electricity supply in villages.

He also met with departmental officials at the General Administration Department of Kawhmu Township. The officials reported on the electricity supply, Township development affairs, rural area development, road upgrading and irrigation system and water resources.

The Chief Minister fulfilled the requirements and gave concluding remarks.
