Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte urged related government departments to step up their disaster response efforts as Mount Mayon remains active. President Duterte inspected the Mayon volcano situation and listened to a report delivered by the local government.

Each government department should draw on relief funds provided by the national government, enhance their emergency response and ensure that people are the first priority, said Duterte. Our government is responsible for handling human beings in case of a crisis, he added.
