Police Chief Shield: Table Tennis Tournament In Yangon

Myanmar Police Force held Chief of Police Force Shield tournament at Myanmar Table Tennis Federation on Wednesday.

Myanmar Police Force has been holding multiple competitions for policemen’s health and athleticism and the table tennis competition was held for the first time.

20 teams from States and Regions police forces competed in three types; team, double and single. 

Police Major, Yangon Region Police Force, Hla Wai said “Myanmar Police Force invited all the police forces from States and Regions to participate in this competition. This competition is also to turn out national players for the country.”

Myanmar Police Force officials, Myanmar Table Tennis Federation president and members, as well as invited guests were present at the competition.

Secretary, Myanmar Table Tennis Federation, Aung Khaing said “Preparations for this competition were initiated a month ago by holding 2 to 3 meetings.”

Umpire, Myanmar Table Tennis Federation, Ohn Lwin said “Judgement is in line with international table tennis competition rules. This tournament is a bit short. The players have the difficulty of getting no rest as they have to play one round after another.”

A total of 9 awards; gold, silver and bronze for all 3 types of competition were presented and the winner of team competition got the championship. First prizes were won by No.3 Training School for Single, Shan State Police Force for Double and Mandalay Region Police Force for Team competition.

Sub-inspector, Mandalay Region Police Force, Thura Htun said “We got the championship as we won the first place in team competition. We won the second prize in double and third prize in single. We practiced 5 hours a day for 1 month.”

Such a competition like this is planned to be held annually as tennis players have to make the right decision within a few seconds which is an essential skill for the police.
