Police clash with protesters as Guinea awaits election results

13 February 2018

Protesters clashed with police in the Guinean capital of Conakry on Monday. Tensions have risen between opposition and government supporters as the country awaits local election results. Protesters threw stones at security forces who responded by firing tear gas and warning shots.

At least 7 people died and 50 were arrested in violence last week after Guineans went to the polls on February 4. The opposition last week said it would not accept the results claiming fraud.
