US Embassy 1st secretary and staff together with diplomats from Britain, Australia and Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) visited Maungtaw region of Rakhine State on Wednesday. The visit was to witness the government’s efforts for provision of foods and rehabilitation process for those who returned, following the August 25 ARSA extremist terrorist attacks.
The 1st Secretary and party met with the youths participating in Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development in Rakhine programme and the locals in Koetankauk Village of Yathedaung Township and Inndin Village of Maungtaw Township.
On the same day, they visited the construction site of a new Mro village in Kaigyi and also observed paddy harvest and drying as well as regional development works. Their 3-day visit also includes meeting with departmental and ICRC officials.
