Secretary general of Japan's ruling party meets China's foreign minister in Beijing

31 August 2018

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi greeted the Secretary General of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party Toshihiro Nikai in Beijing on Friday. Nikai arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for a visit aimed at boosting bilateral ties.

His trip to China coincides with Japan's Finance Minister Taro Aso, who is also holding talks with Chinese senior officials, according to Japanese media. The delegation's visit comes ahead of a possible visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to China later this year.
