Senior staff only at Mexico City Starbucks cafe

Starbucks Corp has opened its first cafe operated entirely by senior staff members aged over 55 at one of its Mexico City branches. Seven adults between the age of 55 and 66 were hired by Starbucks to work in a cafe. Working in conjunction with the National Institute for the Elderly, Starbucks is spearheading a programme of labour inclusion that gives opportunity for employment to senior citizens.

Senior employees are also provided with insurance for major medical expenses and guarantees to give them two days off per week. shifts are limited to a maximum of 6.5 hours. Starbucks plans to provide employment to 120 adults by the end of 2018.
