Sports Institute: 483 Trainees Joined In 2018-2019 Academic Year

Institute of Sports and Physical Education of Yangon started its 2018-2019 academic year with 483 trainees on Friday.

23 sports will be trained. Starting from Grade- 5 students are accepted for gymnastics, diving, swimming, Wushu, and sailing while the students from Grade 8 to 10 are accepted for the remaining sports.

Most of the trainees were mainly selected from Yangon, Bago and Ayawaddy Regions and Rakhine State.

Principal, Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon), Soe Aung said “We coordinated with sports officers from township and district levels to select trainees who met with required qualifications…The outstanding will be camped in Gold camp at Nay Pyi Taw. Matriculation graduates can also join sports major at University of Dagon. Meanwhile we are working on job opportunities for national selection athletes by cooperating with the Ministry.”

Trainees have positive attitude on being there as they got practice of managing accordingly the timetable to be balance between training and studying.

Trainee, Shooting, Kay Zin Wah Wah Ko said “Currently I did the matriculation exam. I joined here since 2015. Training and studying time are divided with the timetable. So I got the habit to do with timetable. I trained techniques of shooting in the evening.”

The trainees expect to be excelled in their specialized sports, and win many victories for the country.

Trainee, Futsal, Kaung Myat Thu said “It has been 3 years in here. Now I’m Grade-10 student. The first one year I played football. But I changed to play futsal 2 years ago. My wish is to become national selection in sport and pass the matriculation exam in education.”

Trainee, Swimming, Phone Pyay Sone Paing said “I just joined the Institute of Sports and Physical Education last year. I learnt many good techniques of swimming. I want to grab gold in SEA Games and pass Grade-8 exam with grade-(A).”

Institute of Sports and Physical Education of Yangon produced 41 men and 50 women securing 2 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals in 29th SEA games.
