Volleyball Tournament: Region And State Level Event In Nay Pyi Taw

The 2018 Region and State-level volleyball tournament kicks off at Wunna Theiddhi Stadium-2 in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

The Director General of the Department of Sports and Physical Education, the Ministry of Health and sports opened the ceremony.

It’s held with the aim of bringing out new talented players to represent Myanmar, encouraging the volleyball sports and building the relations among the players from Regions and States.

Technical Advisor, Myanmar Volleyball Federation, Tin Maung Aye said “We organize this tournament not only to turn out new talented players, but also to build relations among the players. We also would like to see the capability of the young players through this tournament to select and train for the upcoming international tournament. So this is very important for them.”

Over 400 players from15 men teams and 14 women teams from Regions and States are competing in the tournament.

Player, Magwe Region Team, Nay Hlaing Win said “As I’ve been trained a lot for this tournament, I believe I will get the best result. There are many great competitors, especially from Yangon, Mandalay and Shan State. I want to become professional athlete in the future.”

 The tournament will be taken place till May 31st, and 1 million kyats, 700,000 kyats and 500,000 kyats each will be awarded to the first, second and third winner, official said.
