Yangon Mayor’s Cup: 14 Categories From Under 10 To Open Class

2018 Yangon Mayor’s Cup Tennis Competition kicked off at Thein Phyu Tennis Court on Tuesday.

This is the 11th time the competition organized by the Myanmar Tennis Federation with the aim at getting more experience of competition and turning out new talented players among young generation and promoting Tennis sport among the public. Myanmar Tennis Federation organizes many competitions in a year and Yangon Mayor’s Cup is one of them with the sponsorship of Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).

Joint Secretary, Myanmar Tennis Federation, Khin Zaw said “It is 11th time of annual event with the aim to turn out national selections and new outstanding players for young generation and promoting tennis sport among the public. We also arranged for the players from other states and regions covering the accommodation and travelling charges. Total 264 players will take part in this competition.”

There are 14 categories from Under 10 to Open Class in this cup. To strengthen friendship among the tennis clubs, club events are also included in it.

Player, Open Club, Aung Myo Thant said “This is annual event. I also joined it last year and got the third prize. Now I will join in open club in this year tournament. I did practice every day and conducted training over 1 month for this competition. I will try my best.”

Player, Inter Club, Min Lwin said “Our Morning star Club has been established since 1970. We join every year. Our team has 7 members and we practiced every day. I’ll try to my best to grab the Cup with my team.”

2018 Yangon Mayor’s Cup tennis tournament will run until March 12th.
