Myanmar Youth Policy book launching ceremony took place at MICC II in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. State Councellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi graced the ceremony, and said that it is the mile stone for all-round development of Myanmar youth. She pointed out that youth are the future leaders and human resource of the nation.
At present, 35.58 percent of the country’s populations are the youth which is regarded among 15 to 35 years of age, according to the statistics of the 2014 census. The government implements youth policy in cooperation with youth representatives, consultants and UN agencies.
The State Counsellor pointed out that it needs to implement practically for the policy, especially for the youth education, health, sports, vocational training to narrow down the development gap between urban and rural area of the youth. It is also included in the government’s 100-day project and it took about one and a half years for drafting the youth policy.
She also stressed the importance of implementation for job opportunity, gender equality, eliminating the narcotic drug, human rights, peace and international relations. The youth policy was drafted by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ministry of Health and Sports, Ministry of Education, the youth representatives from States and Regions, UN agencies and related ministries. The ceremony was attended by the Union Ministers, youth representatives from States and regions, consultants and departmental officials.
