19th Asia Media Summit (AMS) commenced in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on 3rd September, with the attendance of more than 50 representatives from media organizations from Asia and the Pacific Region, Africa and Europe. Myanmar delegation led by Director General of Myanma Radio and Television U Ye Naing attended the opening ceremony, which featured with Malaysian cultural performances.
The Director of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) gave an opening speech, and the President of AIBD General Conference extended greetings. This was followed by speeches of the Under Secretary-General of UNESCAP and the Malaysian Communications Minister.
During the High Level Session for media sector, participants discussed on the topics ranging from “The Shifting Global Dynamics”, “Opportunities and Challenges in the Creative Content Industry” and “Strengthening Media Resilience”. The 19th Asia Media Summit 2024 & Associated Meetings, are being held from 1st to 5th September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under the theme “Media: The New Odyssey”, with the arrangement of AIBD.
The event underscores the global community’s dedication to thriving in the new digital era. The summit will examine the shifting global dynamics and explore collaborative efforts for learning and advancements, various facets of AI in media and broadcast, and the importance of inclusivity and accessibility to empower diverse voices in these changing times.
In the evening, a Gala Dinner was hosted, along with the presenting of awards to the winners of AIBD International Media Awards. On the 4th, the second day agenda of AMS continued with the discussions on the topics including “Inclusive Broadcasting-Empowering Diverse Voices”, “Capitalising on Emerging Broadcasting Technologies”, “AI-Technology” and “Trust and Transformation”.
The Summit remains a cornerstone for media professionals to network, share knowledge, and discuss the future of the industry, and the upcoming summit is scheduled to be hosted by Thailand.
