The Sixth Annual Union Level Multi-Stakeholder Review for Myanmar National Community Driven Development (MNCDD) Project was held at M Gallery Hotel, in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
At the annual review, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Thu said that as the socio-economic development of the people is associating with the country’s development, it’s an important matter to be necessarily carried out. During the period of people-centered democratic system, the opportunities to bring the higher living standard of the people emerged and the Myanmar National Community Driven Development (MNCDD) Project includes as one of them.
The project has been implementing with the initial assistance of World Bank aiming at nurturing the practice of self driven development tasks by self-leading of the people. It’s reached now the sixth year. As the Community Driven Development project was implemented with the objectives of infrastructure development which is essential for the rural development, implementation of public service with the community-centered approach, rapid responds to the arising of emergency situations and the capacity building, the development of socio-economic life of the rural community can be apparently seen.
Next, World Bank Acting Country Director, Mr. Gevorg Sargsyan delivered a speech and Department of Rural Development Director-General U Khant Zaw explained briefly about the project. Later, the union minister Dr. Aung Thu, deputy minister U Hla Kyaw, parliament representatives and officials concerned observed the documentary photos on the implementation of project.
Afterwards, director-general of the department for the development of border area and national races, deputy director-general of social welfare department, project manager director of the department for the development of rural areas, World Bank’s Lead Social Development Specialist, Mr. Sean Bradley, Asia Foundation’s Senior Consultant, Mr. Roger Shotton discussed under the title of comprehensive collaboration in the regional development tasks and sustainable implementation.
Next, project manager director of the department for the development of rural areas clarified the implementations of the project in sixth year.
Then, the attendees divided into groups and conducted group discussions on relevant sector about the implementation of project and technical obstacles. The project is being carried out to continue implantation in 13 townships, it’s leant.
