Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was welcomed by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on Sunday on the first stop of his Gulf tour. Bolsonaro is scheduled to visit Doha and Saudi Arabia, where he will give a speech at the latter's Future Investment Initiative conference. The Brazilian president's tour of three Gulf states, hopes to turn the page on a diplomatic storm last year with Arab nations over a proposal to move Brazil's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The invitations to visit the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are evidence that the issue has been overcome, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry's secretary, Kenneth Nobrega, said. Nobrega also said Bolsonaro will be seeking increased trade and investment from his oil-producing hosts to help jumpstart Brazil's underperforming economy.
