Wildfires have burned more than 2 million acres in California this year. California has seen 900 wildfires since August 15, many of them started by an intense series of thousands of lightning strikes. There have been eight fire deaths and more than 3,300 structures destroyed.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said 14,800 firefighters were battling 23 major fires in the state. In a briefing to give the latest update on Bobcat Fire, which has burned at least 4,800 acres in the Angeles National Forest, the Incident Commander urged the residents to prepare for evacuation as the fire is likely to move to the south.
