The five politicians aspiring to become Spain's next prime minister exchanged attacks in a televised live debate ahead of Sunday's general election. In debate, the issues of post-electoral pacts, the economy and above all else the political crisis of Catalonia were the main themes.

The centre-right Citizens party leader Albert Rivera showed a broken pavement stone from the city that he said had been thrown at police. Ideologically, Salvini and Spanish far-right leader Santiago Abascal are close, it was this friendship between Salvini and Abascal that Rivera attempted to demonstrate. Abascal spoke on the issue of immigration during the debate, he said that Europe's demographic problems cannot be solved by the importing of "millions of people from Africa."
