Cash Donation: Chinese Government Donates 300,000 USD To JMC

Cash Donation Ceremony from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to JMC was held at National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC), Yangon on Friday morning.

At the occasion, Chinese Embassy donated 300,000 USD to Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) and Union-Level Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC-U).  Chairperson of JMC-U, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae explained about the work process undertaken at all levels of JMC and future JMC works. JMC-U Chairperson said that JMC is formed for the purpose of implementation in pushing for peace in Myanmar and they will use this donation of cash to implement works of JMC in an effective way. And he also expressed words of thanks to Chinese Government and People for donating cash in peace process of Myanmar.

Mr. Sun Guoxiang, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke at the ceremony explaining the reason for the donation. He added that JMC is an important component in peacemaking of Myanmar and Chinese Government will help and support to Myanmar as much as they can to maintain relationship between the two countries, so China is a trust worthy country for Myanmar. Afterwards, JMC-U Chairperson Lt-Gen Yar Pyae accepted the 300,000 USD donated by the Chinese Government and then handed over a certificate of honor and presents to Special Envoy, Mr. Sun Guoxiang for donation.

Secretary(1), JMC-U, Dr. Shwe Khar said “This event is cash donation ceremony from Chinese Government to JMC for peacemaking process in Myanmar. They totally donate 1 million USD, in the amount of 400,000 USD to NRPC, 300,000 USD to PC and 300,000 USD to JMC. And we will mainly use this cash on monitoring, problems verifying and conflict resolution. At the occasion, we especially discussed to implement the work processes of JMC and the case of Myanmar northern region.”

Chinese Embassy also donated 10 vehicles and 800,000 USD to JMC during previous years. The ceremony was attended by JMC-U Chairperson and officials, the delegation led by Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Yangon.
