Central Committee Meeting: Chairman of NTIDCC, DPM, UM gave remark

Chairman of National Tourism Industry Development Central Committee, SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Myat Tun Oo attended the Central Committee meeting (1/2024) and gave a remark.

In his remark, the Central Committee Chairman said that this meeting is held to discuss for the solution of the apparent development of the country’s tourism industry like the other countries in 2024. According to the report of UN Tourism, the world tourism industry gained progress more than estimation in 2023.

The prospects show the progress of the industry to exceed the condition prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tourists arrival of the country in 2023 was 1.28 million and the rate of arrival rose to 4 and half folds in comparing with that of 2022.

In 2024, until May from January, about 520,000 tourists arrived. The arrival gained the 63% of progress in comparing with the same period of previous year. In finding well solutions for the promotion of tourist arrival, it’s needed to apply the digital technology and cashless payment by using online, implementation of Ease of Doing Business for the tourism related industries including MSMEs etc.

Next, the Vice Chair of the Central Committee Union Minister for Hotel and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khine discussed regarding with the tourism industries.

Then, Central Committee secretary Deputy Minister for Hotel and Tourism clarified the implementations of decisions in the central Committee meeting (2/2023), substitution of a members at the Committee, reformation of 9 committees from the regions and states with the substitution of chairmen, secretaries and members, implementation of the instructions of the Chairman of the State Administration Council, permission and coordination for the development of tourism industry in Keng tung and Townships and districts in the Region of Shan State (East) etc.

Then, the central Committee members Union Ministers, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States Chief Minister, Deputy Ministers, advisor of central Committee, representatives of private tourism organizations, experts in tourism industry and officials clarified the related sectors for the development of tourism industry and the central Committee Chairman gave the supplemented discussion, coordinated requirement and delivered a speech of conclusion.
