At the meeting, the Union Minister discussed Myanmar’s providing assistance for the projects invested by the investors from China. As there are sources of generating electricity such as hydro, solar and wind in Myanmar, the investors would like to be invited.

The ongoing discussions on generating electric power from small scale to the larger scale would like to be supported. As the efforts are being made to complete installing China-Myanmar cross border electric power lines in 2024, it’s urged to provided necessary assistances.

In his responding, the Yunnan Province Governor said the challenges of Myanmar are understood as the province shares the longest border with Myanmar. Especially, the Yunnan Province Government is endorsing it in principle and the providing assistances will be continued.

In current situation, as per year generation and consumption is imbalanced, there are requirements of supply for electricity. To fulfill the requirements, the electricity is being generated from available sources including hydropower, wind power, solar power, coal and natural gas.

As the extraction of natural gas is declining, it’s making arrangements to generate electricity from Hydro power, solar wind as well as from coal. The investors from China are being provided necessary assistances.

In the generation of electricity from hydro-power, not only the larger hydro-power projects but the small projects are being implemented. It comes to the wind power, as there is an abundant space; the expansion of generation is being carried out.

Although there is a requirement for supply of electricity for the time being, the necessary arrangements are being made for further fulfillment in 2025. So, the NEA is requested to give permission and provide assistances for those who will be invested to fulfill the requirements of the country and to invite Myanmar citizens for the seminars and training for the human resource development.
