China reports 1,771 more viral pneumonia cases on Monday

The Chinese National Health Commission (NHC) announced on Tuesday that 1,771 newly confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) were reported in 30 provincial level regions across the country on Monday.

The NHC also reported 26 more deaths on the day, making the total deaths reaching 106. A total of 60 patients were cured and discharged and 6,973 suspected cases reported. The commission also reported that a total of 47,833 people were found having close contacts with the patients, with 914 of them removed from medical observations and 44,132 of them still under medical observations. Meanwhile, Hong Kong has eight confirmed cases, Macao seven, and Taiwan five. The newly confirmed cases and deaths include 1,291 and 24 respectively from central China's Hubei Province.
